Puerto Iguazu

We flew from Buenos Aires to Puerto Iguazu on Wednesday afternoon. Given it was an 18 hour bus journey which would have been more expensive than the flight for just a 2 night stay, we felt it was the better option. We arrived in thick coats and long trousers to suddenly find ourselves in 30 degree sunshine! Hoorah! (Although this was a shortlived reprieve.)

Iguazu – “Big Water” – was named by the Guarani, who are the indiginous population (before the Spanish arrived). There is definitely a good reason for the name. The town itself is pretty enough, although clearly geared to catering for the numbers of tourists it attracts, but the falls were the reason we went and it was definitely a ‘must do’.

Leaving Buenos Aires – it’s big
Arriving Puerto Iguazu – slightly different type of landscape
Taster view – the top of the “Devil’s Throat”
The noise was immense
Swallos nesting on edge of waterfall
A Coati – local resident
